LG have launched their 55-inch OLED TV in Harrods in London, making England the second market after Korea.
Know as the LG 55EM970V in the UK and Europe, the 55-inch LG OLED TV is currently on show exclusively at Harrods, and available for pre-order for £10,000, due to ship in July.
We posted this news last month when it was announced, but while recently on a visit to London, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity in getting another look at the beauty, and of course sharing it with my loyal readers.
The LG 55EM970V is the UK / European model name, while it’s known as the LG 55EM9700 in the rest of the world. It is the first large OLED TV to launch in the world.
LG is the first company to release a large sized OLED TV, and first showed their 55-inch model at at CES in 2012. We saw their latest OLED TVs at CES in Las Vegas earlier in the year, and we have to admit, we were even more impressed seeing their OLED this time around. Maybe it was because of the setting, or the fact that we could go right up to the TV and admire it closely, rather than being behind a barrier swarming with press.
It really is impressive, amazingly thin at just 4.5mm, and offers amazing image quality with unbeatable black levels and contrast.
Andrew Mackay, UK Commercial Director of Home Entertainment said, “Following the LG launch and supply to the Korean market earlier in the year, the UK is proud to be the next market to launch LG OLED TV, as this innovative and premium model launches first in Europe to UK consumers.”
While the LG 55EM970V is up for pre-order at Harrods for £10,000 ($15,200 USD), if your wallet can’t quiet stretch that far, or you can’t get down to Harrods, be sure to enjoy the video!
Sorry about the flicker by the way, I was recording at a 60fps frame rate, which the florescent lights were also running at.
