LG 84LM9600 84-Inch UDTV 4K

LG have just announced the availability of their huge 84-Inch LG 84LM9600 UDTV in South Korea.

In the competitive world of HDTVs LG are very proud to call the 84LM9600 the “World’s biggest” Ultra Definition TV, beating the likes of Samsung and Sharp to the punch. Just as in the world of performance cars where it’s all about horse power and top speed, in the TV world it’s about size.

The 84-Inch UHDTV with its 4K resolution is available for pre-order for a whooping 25 million won, which right now converts to just over $22,000 USD.   The LG 84LM9600 will be available world wide, including the U.S and Europe in September 2012.  When we see it over here, we expect it to come in at a slightly lower price than the converted price we have here.

The LG UD 3D TV has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, which equates to 8 million pixels per frame, and four times the resolution of current 1080p HDTVs.  To get the very best out of all those pixels, the LG 84LM9600 features “LG’s advanced Triple XD Engine” upscaller, which renders content at a 4K resolution for the highest picture quality.

While 4K content is few and far between right now, you could also hook it up to the Sony BDP-S790 4K blu-ray player to feed the monster 4K directly.

The LG 84LM9600 is also a 3D TV using Cinema 3D passive glasses technology.  But having this ultra high resolution means that even in 3D mode where the resolution is halved, you will still be watching in better than 1080p quality.
