LG Google TV / 3D TV at CES 2012

Wow LG have really been on fire these last few days, and they certainly have a lot to be excited for. Not content with announcing their 55-inch OLED HDTV, or their 85-inch 3D 4K UDTV ahead of CES 2012, they have now just taken the wraps off of their LG Google TV.

The LG Google TV, or LG Smart TV as they refer to it as, combines their Smart TV technology with the Google Android OS in the form of Google TV. LG have really thrown all the latest technology into this set, as it also supports 3D.

In late November we heard strong rumors about Samsung showing off their Google TV offering at CES 2012, but now LG has gone one further and officially announced their product which will be demoed on January 9th at CES 2012, which we will be sure to cover.

LG say thats the Google TV’s most attractive feature is its easy of use. By using both the Android bases user interface and LG’s own Magic Remote Qwerty it is very easy and convenient to browse and select content. The TV can also multi-task, allowing social networking applications, search and TV functions to all be run at the same time.

The LG Smart TV supports Google TV along side its own Smart TV platform which is based on NetCast. LG say that their Smart TV platform will be available in more than 60% of it’s new flat panel TVs over the next year.

The HDTV also features LGs CINEMA 3D technology, which makes use of Film Patterned Retarder (FPR) technology, allowing for very affordable, and lightweight glasses, allowing for many users to take advantage of the 3DTV. There is also a new built in 2D to 3D conversion engine. Be sure to view LG’s 2012 3D Glasses.

LG have provided us with two photos of this Google TV. Right now there are no model numbers, prices or release dates, but we’re sure this will be made available next week at CES. Right now I’m not sure if it is a single model, or a series from LG.
