With IFA 2013 just days away now, LG have already announced a number of audio video products which they’ll be showing off.
While they’ll be showing off their popular NB4530A and NB5530A Sound Bars, they also have a new twist on the soundbar design, a “Sound Plate“.
The LG LAP340 Sound Plate is essentially a very flat and wide soundbar. But rather than being placed in front of the TV or wall mounted below the TV, the TV is placed directly onto the Soundplate.
LG say that the LAP340 can be placed under any 32-inch to 55-inch TV and saves space. I can see the sound plate being useful in situations where you have a TV with a very low stand, such as the Samsung F8000, which positions it only centimeters above the stand, where using a normal soundbar would block the Smart TV’s image.
The LG LAP340 features a 4.1 channel sound system with built in dual subwoofers. It can product “full bodied” audio in multiple directions creating an immersive experience.
If you’re wondering just how such a slim device can produce powerful, high quality audio, the answer lays with neodymium magnets, which enable it to produce powerful audio from such a slim design.
Like most soundbars, bluetooth is also supported allowing a wireless connection to the TV, and also for music playback from Smartphones and tablets.
No word on watts or power etc, but we will keep you updated!
