It is no question of a doubt that the Achilles heel of all current 3DTVs is the glasses.
Most people are fine wearing the funky glasses in the cinema, but at wearing them at home in your living room is another matter. Simply put, the requirement of the glasses to watch 3DTV at home puts a number of people off.
But there is hope. Toshiba have been reported to be preparing three models of glasses-free 3DTVs. They are apparently being prepared for a launch before Christmas at a price of “several thousand dollars”.
The display works using a multi-parallax technique, which emits a number of rays of light with various angles from the screen, so that stereoscopic images
(3D) can be seen without glasses.
They also said that “People can enjoy images in three dimensions from various positions and suffer less stress”.
Hoepfully we will hear more news in this in the coming months!
