Roku have just announced (and launched) their Roku 3 streamer. Adding to their already impressive and popular range of Roku media hub / video streamer, the new Roku 3 is blessed with a processor which is five times faster than their previous streaming players, but still sips power.
The new Roku 3 features a new interface and enhanced motion remote control which features a built-in headphone jack for private listening. It comes with included in-ear headphones, or you can use your own, to not wake your family as your enjoying your latest shows, or playing games such as Angry bird space.
The much improved and simplified interface have been streamlined for quicker access. The Roku channel store and search and now integrated into the home screen. There are now over 750 channels available and searching these is now much easier. Simply search for the TV show or film you want to watch, and the Roku 3 will search all of the available sources, and allow you to select the provider, such as Hulu, Netflix, Amazon etc. The new interface will be rolled out to Roku 2 models, Roku HD (2500), Roku Streaming Stick, and the Roku LT devices in April as a free update.
The Roku 3 also features Wi-Fi Direct, a technology which Miracast is based on, which allows you to mirror the content which is currently playing on your Smart Phone or tablet. While Roku haven’t announced Miracast, technology partner Broadcom have stated that the recent Roku streaming stick would support this technology, so we can only assume the Roku 3 will also in the future.
It also features, HDMI output, USB ports, Ethernet port and dual band WiFi, which is exclusive to the Roku 3.
The Roku is available for $99.99 direct from Roku, and also on Amazon with free shipping!
