Seiki SE65UY04 65-Inch 4K UHDTV Under $3,000

Seiki have just announced that they’ll be bringing their 65-inch 4K Ultra HD TV to the U.S market by th end of the year for less than $3,000.

If you have been following the 4K / Ultra HD TV market, you’ll know that Sony, LG and Samsung have all released 4K TVs in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes. At first these were all about $7,000 or so, but they have all dropped dramatically in just a month or two.

While these major brand’s prices have dropped, they’re still of higher than we’re seeing from Chinese based Seiki Digital. They current have a 39-inch, and 50-inch on the market for a very low $699 and $966 respectively.

With the announcement of their largest 65-inch Seiki SE65UY04 at under $3,000, we’re pretty sure that we will see it selling on Amazon and other stores for just over $2,500.

So how does the Seiki SE65UY04 4K TV differ from those on offer from the major brands? We’ll firstly they of course all have the 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. The main difference is features. Where as Sony and Samsung’s 4K TVs are essentially built on their highest end flagship 1080p Smart TVs, just with a 4K panel and 4K features. They have Smart TV hubs, voice and gesture control and all the fancy things, but when it comes to Seiki it’s a much more basic bare bones approach.

If you’re just after the 4K resolution and don’t care too much for the fancy Smart TV features the Seiki 65-i8nch 4K Ultra HD TV could be for you.

The Seiki SE65UY04 doesn’t have Smart TV features or Internet connectivity, but it does have a 120Hz refresh rate, 3 HDMI 1.4 inputs, component, composite and a RGB input along with a USB input for mp3 and JPG photos.

The most important thing to notice there is the HDMI 1.4 version. While Sony and Samsung have announced HDMI 2.0 input upgrades for their 4K models to allow 4K 60p, Seiki haven’t announced anything for HDMI 2.0, so it will be limited to 24p and 30p (fps).

We’ll keep you updated on its release.
