Panasonic Announces 145-inch 8K Super Hi-Vision plasma TV

If you thought the “world’s largest” 8K 85-Inch Super Hi-Vision LCD HDTV that was announced at the start of the year was impressive, prepare to be amazed by the newly announced Panasonic 145-Inch 8K plasma HDTV.

The 145-inch Super-HI Vision monster has just stolen the world’s largest title by a mile. Panasonic have been working with NHK (a Japanese broadcaster) and have developed a new drive method for the TV by scanning the pixels vertically to achieve a high quality uniform picture with no flicker, which is common on large high resolution displays. It is also the world’s first self-illuminating 8k HDTV.

8K’s format was officially set in October last year and has a resolution of 7,680 x 4,320, much higher than the currently Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Panasonic and NHK plan to reveal the 145-Inch set in May. We would love to see this huge super high resolution in person, but we’re quite sure that it will be a number of years before anything like this is publicly available.
