Philips 2013 HDTV Lineup

New for 2013 Philips have announced their latest 2013 HDTV Lineup.

Philips have clearly been very busy with the Smart TV Alliance and have seven new series, with all but one series all boasting Smart TV functions of two different levels. Every single series features built in WiFi, and built in USB recording, with extra more advanced features such as MiraCast, 3D capabilities, and built in skype cameras being added as you work your way up the series.

Along with Philips putting a lot of emphasis on the new Smart TV fictions, as always Philips have included their Ambilight lighting technology. This Ambilight technology projects colored light matching the colors of the images currently shown on the screen onto the wall behind the TV, which makes the viewing experience more imersive, and is also said to reduce eye strain.

For the new 2013 models, Philips have two versions of the Ambilight three sided, for the top three series, and a two sided version for the next two series down. The new 2013 Ambilight makes use of LEDs throughout the series rather than rather than CCFLs.

Philips 9008 Ultra HD

Sony and LG are leading the way with Ultra HD TVs, with Samsung and another of other manufacturers getting in to 4K. Philips looks set to join in the fun with the new Philips 9008 4K Ultra TV series. While currently unannounced, we’re told that Philips will reveal the 4K 9008 series in September at IFA 2013. As always, we’ll keep you up to date!

Philips DesignLine 8908 | 46PDL8908 and 55PDL8908

The Philips DesignLine series is an extension to the above 8008 series and features a unique design. It will be available as the 46-inch 46PDL8908, and the 55-inch 55PDL8908.

Feature wise it is pretty much identical to the Philips 8008 series, just all wrapped up in a funky design. The TV has no base or stand, but is rather extended into the whole TV. It is designed to be leaned up again the wall. The design reminds me slightly of the Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 11, only extended, or with the angle, like the BeoVision 10.
