Samsung Smart Hub 2013 Revealed

Samsung have just revealed their Samsung Smart Hub 2013 version, which will be available on the new 2013 Samsung Smart TVs which are going to be unveiled next week at CES 2013.

As well as being available on the new 2013 Samsung Smart TVs, the new 2013 Samsung Smart Hub will be available on most of the 2012 Samsung Smart TVs via the Samsung Evolution Kit, which plugs into the back of the 2012 models. For more information on upgrading, read the Samsung Evolution Kit article.

While Samsung have yet to take the wraps off of their new 2013 Smart TVs, which come next week, they have shown off the impressive looking 2013 Smart Hub.

I have always been a fan of the 2012 version, but I must admit the new 2013 version does look a lot cleaner, and smarter. Samsung are calling the 2013 Smart Hub more “intuitive”. It makes use of five sections, or panels, which can be “flipped” through using Samsung’s unique motion control. Samsung say it is similar to flipping through a book.

The panels are divided into sections, the main is live TV, then video on demand, apps, Internet and social.

From the provided images, it looks the the main live TV panel features a larger preview than on the 2012 version, with an integrated TV guide. The use of “panels” reminds us of the new Windows 8 interface, and the pulling in of the different apps and sources into one place reminds us of the Wii TVii.
