Samsung KE55S9C (S9C) Curved OLED TV Launched in UK / Europe

A couple of weeks ago Samsung launched their 55-inch curved OLED TV over in the U.S for $9,000, a whole lot cheaper than first expected. As always, the UK / Europe were left waiting for more news. But we didn’t have to wait too long.

Today Samsung UK / Europe pushed out a press release officially announcing the release and pricing of their amazing 55-inch curved OLED TV. The Samsung KE55S9C, or to use its short name the Samsung S9C will be available in the UK from September 5th 2013. In other words, just over a weeks time!

It has a pricetag of €7999. No UK price has been given yet, we’re hoping to hear back from Samsung UK regarding this.

Samsung’s announcement comes just days after LG announced the availability of their 55-inch curved OLED TV over in Germany, with a full European launch coming in the fourth quarter of 2013.

It is also interesting to now that currently the Samsung S9C is priced at €7999, while LG’s model is priced at €8999. A full €1000 difference, but having said that, just yesterday LG cut the price of their curved OLED TV by nearly 30% over in South Korea.

You might have noticed the model name for this curved OLED TV, S9C, is very similar to their 85-inch Ultra HDTV with the model name S9. Both of which feature Samsung’s Timeless Arena design, with a floating frame, along with a “Clean Back Design” as the F8000 and F9000 models also feature.

If your curious how the Samsung S9C compares to LG’s model. The Samsung uses true RGB technology, while the LG uses WRGB technology. Both companies of course say their technology is best. The LG uses passive 3D glasses, while the Samsung uses active 3D also also features Multi View technology. This enables two people to watch two completely different full HD 3D content on the same screen, full screen, with audio at the same time by using the 3D active glasses. Be sure to watch our video on this technology.
