Sony HMZ-T2 Personal 3D Viewer Announced

Do you remember the Sony HMZ-T1 from last year? The futuristic personal viewer was announced with big fan fare at highend London retailer in London.

Sony have now reworked this device and have announced the Sony HMZ-T2 Personal 3D Viewer at IFA 2012.

They didn’t draw as much attention to it this time around, and were directing most of people’s attention to their new 84-Inch 4K monster and new flagship HX950 HDTVs.

The new Sony HMZ-T2 looks quite similar to last years model, but it is lighter and more comfortable than the previous model.

HMZ-T2 is 20% lighter (330 grams) and more comfortable but still features the same 0.7” OLED displays, but they’re now sharper. Along with a new headstrap, the Sony HMZT2 now makes use of ear buds rather than headphones. It also adds 24p cinema support, and a new clear drive mode to better display fast moving content, keeping it judder free and sharp.

You can watch movies or play games in 2D or 3D with virtual 5.1 surround sound.

There is no official U.S price or release date just yet, but we are hearing wipers of a December release. It’s priced at 70,000 yen over in Japan, which currently equates to just under $900. So we’re expecting to see prices of about $800+.
