Sony X8 4K TVs now Available

Sony launched its first 55-inch and 65-inch 4K TVs at CES 2013 back in January, later in the year at IFA 2013 they announced their Sony X8 series of 4K TVs in the same sizes at a lower price point.

These 55-inch Sony XBR55X850A and 65-inch Sony XBR65X850A 4K Ultra HDTVs are now available online in the the U.S starting at just $3,498.00.

The 4K TV market has to be one of the most competitive markets around right now and since their first 4K TVs have been available on the market their prices have tumbled down.

With consumers obviously wanting lower prices and more of a bargain Sony have delivered the X8 series.

So how does the X8 range of 4K TVs differ from the original X9 series?

Specification wise the X8 and X9 are very similar in all areas apart from one. The X9 comes with Sony’s special magnetic fluid speakers, which also give the TV a wider footprint.

The X8 models do not feature these advanced speakers, and have a less wide design. We believe that some people will prefer the look of the new X8 models without the wider design, and of course Sony will also know that a lot of home theater enthusiasts will already own the own sound system or even a sound bar already.

The X8 of course features a 4K resolution panel, Triluminos technology, full Smart TV platform HDMI 2.0 inputs, but we have heard talk of a the X8’s using a different LCD panel than the X9, but no details are available.
