Westinhouse 4K UHDTVs Start at $2,500

Just as we reported back at the end of 2012, Westinghouse joined in the 4K / Ultra HDTV game by announcing their “World’s largest” 110-inch 4K TV at CES 2013.

While their 110-inch UHDTV is very impressive indeed, what is more impressive and interesting to me, and probably 99% of the world is their other announcements.

Along with the 110-inch model, Westinghouse also announced more “normal” sized UHDTVs with the same 4K resolution at 50-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inches.

At the end of last year, the only 4K options available were 84-inch monsters from Sony, and LG which start at $20,000. Although said manufactures have now announced smaller models, we’re pretty sure they can’t match the smaller prices from Westinghouse.

The Westinghouse 4K Ultra HDTVs are very reasonably priced, with the 50-inch 4K model asking just $2,500, the 55-inch $3,000, and the 65-inch $4,000. Now if you’re wondering about that 110-inch 4K model, I hope you’re sitting down. It’s $300,000! This beast is also made to order.

The 50, 55, and 65-inch models will be available in stores and online from the first quarter of 2013. So expect to see them in the next couple of months.

We’re glad that 4K Ultra HD TVs are really coming our way in terms of reasonable sizes and now with thanks to Westinghouse, reasonable prices.

For those of you who are lost on what exactly 4K / Ultra HD is, it’s essentially 4x the resolution of 1080p Full HD, giving you a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. All models here from Westinghouse also have 120Hz refresh rate to keep the images sharp and clear.
